PARTNER-LEVEL EMPLOYMENT COUNSEL — LITIGATION + ADVICE & COUNSEL | REMOTE (CA LICENSED)

About Us:
Fairgrieve Law Office is a boutique, employer-side employment law firm fiercely committed to helping California businesses navigate the minefield of employment regulations. We deliver strategic advice, clear direction, and trusted advocacy to our clients — so they can confidently focus on running their businesses.

Our team values integrity, professionalism, community, and balance. We believe legal careers should enhance lives, not consume them.

About You:
We’re seeking an experienced, business-minded, and highly skilled Employment Counsel with substantial litigation and advice & counsel experience to join our growing practice. This role is designed for a partner-level or seasoned of-counsel attorney who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-centered environment.

You are someone who:

  • Has proven experience advising employers on complex, fast-paced employment law issues.

  • Can seamlessly pivot between strategic advice, policy development, agency defense, and litigation management.

  • Is a trusted advisor to business owners, executives, and HR leaders.

  • Enjoys autonomy and thrives in a flexible, remote-forward setting.

  • Has strong business sense, practical judgment, and excellent client relationship skills.

The Opportunity:
This is a part-time, remote position with an expected 20 billable hours per week. You will directly advise and represent California employers in a wide range of employment law matters, including:

  • Counseling clients on employee relations, terminations, leaves of absence, wage & hour issues, accommodation requests, workplace investigations, and compliance best practices.

  • Drafting and revising employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and separation documents.

  • Representing employers in state and federal employment litigation.

  • Handling matters before the Labor Commissioner, Department of Civil Rights, EEOC, and other administrative agencies.

  • Supporting clients through employment-related disputes, audits, and crisis situations.

  • Mentoring junior attorneys as needed (if desired).

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California.

  • Minimum 10+ years of California employment law experience, including both litigation and proactive counseling.

  • Strong track record of independently managing employment matters from intake to resolution.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with business clients.

  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and client communication skills.

  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach to employment issues.

  • Prior small firm, boutique, or in-house experience a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $140–$160/hour DOE

  • Bonus potential based on performance and firm profitability.

  • PTO provided.

  • Primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings dependent on client or case needs.

  • Flexible work environment that prioritizes professional growth and personal well-being.

How to Apply:
If this sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit:
